How we check certification
Most fire safety firms don't say on their website which third-party schemes they belong to. In our research, fewer than a third did. So every listing shows certification in one of three ways:
- Verified We've checked it on the scheme's register (for example the BAFE or NSI register) and show the date we checked. Registers don't publish expiry dates, so we re-check every quarter.
- Stated on their website The business says it on its own website, but we haven't checked it yet.
- No certification stated We found no mention of third-party certification. That doesn't mean the firm isn't competent, only that it doesn't say.
Which schemes we look for
- BAFE SP205: fire risk assessment companies. Version 6 has applied since 31 March 2026.
- BAFE SP203-1: fire detection and alarm companies, certified by module (design, installation, commissioning, maintenance). SP203-3 covers emergency lighting and SP101 extinguishers.
- NSI Gold / Silver: fire and security companies audited by the National Security Inspectorate.
- LPCB LPS 1014: fire detection and alarm firms.
- NFRAR and the IFE register: individual fire risk assessors, by BS 8674 competence level.
We don't show FRACS: Warringtonfire withdrew all FRACS certificates on 31 December 2024.

What we don't do
We don't assess anyone's competence or the quality of their work, and a listing is not a recommendation. Scheme logos belong to the schemes; we don't display them. Not every certified firm appears on this site, and registers themselves note that not every certified organisation appears in their search. If a detail is wrong, tell us and we'll correct it.
Other details come from Google's business listings (name, phone, address) and from the business's own website (services, premises, areas). We record the date each listing was last refreshed.
